Hey everybody! It’s been a while. How have you been? I suspect that some of you have grown beards and had kids since the last time we spoke.

Just to let you all know (I say all, I have no idea if anybody is reading this), You Heard It Here First is currently hibernating.

There are a million and one reasons for why I’ve not been posting about new music in the past few months but the main (and most important) reason is simply due to time restraints, I can no longer commit to the level of what I used to do. I started the blog up when I was at uni and hammered it when I was unemployed. The sad fact is that due to full time hours and a busy social life, I don’t have the time to put into discovering new music as much as I used to.

As a result, I don’t want to sell myself short because I only write about bands that I like. I have never written about anything to be popular or cool like other blogs. Simply put, I don’t have the time to put in and I don’t want to have a regularly updated crap blog when I can have a great one. I just need to figure out how the hell I’m going to do that.

So, for the time being, this is it. Not a goodbye, just a see you later sorta thing. In the meantime, follow me on Twitter and send me your music. I’m by no means turning my back on it, just taking the monkey off my shoulder for a bit.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and for putting up with my lazy journalistic style. I think this video says it all really…

So long, farewell. Auf Weidersehen, goodbye.

Wu Lyf

10 Feb

Make no mistake, Wu Lyf will be huge! Of all the ‘bands to watch out for in 2011’ bands that you’ve read about everywhere – this is one that are genuinely going places. That’s not to say that the others aren’t. It’s just to say with 100% confidence that Wu Lyf are the dog’s dangly bits!

Hey there folks! It’s been absolutely ages since writing a blog. I have been very very very busy and have neglected this little blog I know. If blogs were children, I’d be a terrible father. Fortunately, blogs aren’t children. That would involve some sort of computer based loving and a broken DVD drive. Anyway, I digress.

Just to let you all know, the plan is to really get this blog back up and running again next year. I now work in the music industry and have a load of ‘insider’ info to share. I’m out at gigs all the time and have decided that once all the Jesus birthday shizzle dies down, I will get back on this blog every day like I used to be and I will of course be bringing you brand new music as much as I possibly can.

I’ve got some other ideas for next year that I won’t tell you about yet but expect a whole lot more.

In the meantime, I hope you’re enjoying my albums of the year countdown.

Until next time…

Somebody sign NewIslands…

16 Jun

I saw NewIslands play their first show in London over a year ago and have been keeping a close eye on them ever since. It’s quite a rare thing for me to blog about a band more than once but certain bands are worthy of it. NewIslands just keep getting better and better.

If you’re fortunate enough to be going to Glastonbury next weekend then make sure you go and see them on the BBC Introducing stage. You won’t be disappointed and I’ll be disappointed in you if you don’t.

Somebody sign them now. That is all. Kthxbi.
