Pink Mountaintops

18 Aug

I have been listening to Pink Mountaintops a lot lately. They remind me an awful lot of Spiritualized and Mercury Rev. For those of you that are familiar with the highly under rated Black Mountain, you may recognise the singer Stephen McBean. This is his side project.

Their pyschedelic gospel is the sort of music that you can completely lose yourself in. It’s filled with emotion and sheering melodies. I can imagine this being the perfect soundtrack to accompany a journey through the depths of outer space.

Canadians sure are great at making music aren’t they?

Their recent album album ‘Outside Love’ has been described by Pitchfork as an ‘adventurous journey to surprising heights’ and I have to say I thoroughly concur with this.
